On September 14th, 2019 Ricky (Rick) D Padgett passed away at the age of 68. Born on August 15, 1951 in Washington, DC to the late Ray and Audrey Padgett. He was the loving father to Brian Padgett, Michele Ford, David Padgett, Michael Padgett & Ashlie Gerard (and their spouses/significant others) and grandfather to 10 grandchildren. He was born in Washington DC and lived the majority of his life (except for his time in the army) in the Northern Virginia area. He served in the army and Vietnam, then worked 38 years on Capitol Hill as a Capitol Hill Police officer. He retired 10 years ago. He loved his family and said he lived a full life with no regrets. He spent his life taking care of people and for that, we are eternally grateful. He will be missed.
Arrangements are as follows:
Wednesday, September 25th, the viewing will be held 6 pm to 8 pm at Cunningham Turchs Funeral Home in Alexandria, VA.
Thursday, September 26th, the funeral will be held 11 am to 12 then the procession to Mt Comfort Cemetery in Alexandria, VA with military honors graveside service at 12:30.

i lived my first years on the Wind River Indian Reservation in wyoming Shoshone and Ar,pahoe tribes it was called Boysen
wyoming ,another tribe the Northern Cheyenne believe that when you die you just go to a new camp and from me i hope you enjoy the new camp it is sad for us here to hear of a fine person like yourself become silent to us—–jerry heines told me of your passing

Rick was a great guy and a friend.
I’m sorry for the loss to this beautiful family. He created an amazing legacy with his children and grand children. I hope you all find comfort and support in each other to keep his memory alive.

Heart felt sympathy goes out to the family. It is never easy to lose a Mom or Dad, but harder if it is a parent who has walked with you through the good & bad in life, and still loves you to the Moon & back. Thoughts & prayers to you, Dave & family. Keep the memories of his life close to your heart. Talk about them often. Be kind & loving to each other as you work your way though the loss of Dad.
