Marcelino “Marce” Galvan, 67, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on the morning of June 16, 2021, following a nine year hard fought battle against bladder cancer.

Marce was born at home in Chicago Heights on November 19, 1953 to Desiderio and Evangelina Galvan. He was the 8th of 10 children. He graduated from Bloom Township High School in 1972 where he was a proud member of the wrestling team. Marce graduated from the Chicago Police Academy in 1978 and became an officer with the Chicago Heights Police Department. After 20 years of service, he retired as a Domestic Violence Detective.

Marce married Kim Marino in September of 1998 and moved from Chicago Heights to the Washington DC area. He was a dedicated civil servant and began a second career at the US Department of Justice and later the Department of Homeland Security, a position he proudly held until his passing.

He became a proud part of the Woodlawn Little League community, Mount Vernon Patriots Baseball organization and Boy Scouts of America.

His greatest accomplishments in life and what he was most proud of were his children: Anthony (Amanda), Joseph (Abby), Evie and Frankie; and his grandchildren Lucy, Phoebe, Fiona, Kennedy and Keagan.

He is survived by his beloved mother Evangelina; his wife, his children and grandchildren, his siblings Helen (David) Garcia, Robert (Debbie), Luis (Carletta), Jeorge (Anita), Leonel (Margi), Albert, Diana (Michael) Finnin, Norma Linda (Edward) Sanchez, many well loved aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father Desiderio and his sister Gloria.
