Edwin Richard Underwood was born in Maryland. He graduated from Oxon Hill Sr High School in 1969 then enlisted in the US Navy. He served aboard the USS Midway, stationed in the Philippines during Vietnam, achieved Honors in the Aviation School in Hydraulics. In 1975, Ed used the GI Bill to obtain a Degree in Business from U of MD. He started his own remodeling and roofing company named “All American Home Remodelers, Inc” which is still an active entity today.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents Joseph & Naoma Underwood, nieces Laura Mankamyer & Jeni Rempel, is survived by brothers William & Joseph Underwood, sisters Victoria Rempel & Lynae Fiamengo, nephews William Underwood Jr; Hans, Chris & Erich Rempel; Brian & Tyler Fiamengo.
Edy’s joys came from playing the drums, riding the open road on his 1958 Harley Davidson Panhead, on which in 1993, he participated in his first Rolling Thunder Motorcycle Rally for POWs and rode in every ride through 2016. Often Ed admired the DC sights riding bike trails on the Potomac. His passport is stamped from traveling mostly Central and South America for over 20 years. He was strong in body and spirit and was not afraid to try or fix anything. In his last days after losing his mobility to cancer, he worked hard to get around on a wheelchair and never complained. He is the most resilient man on this earth. We are so proud to be his siblings. Ed was a good teacher, enjoyed talking about Einstein and the Theory of Relativity till wee hours of the morning. In this life, Ed found victory in the pages of the Bible and walks the Streets of Gold waiting for us who believe.
“Oh death where is thy victory? Oh grave where is thy sting? But thanks be to God, which gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” I Corinthians 15:55&57
