Carol J. Schneider nee BrightOctober 8, 1947-March 5, 2015Carol J. Schneider, 67, of Alexandria, VA, passed away unexpectedly on March 5, 2015 at INOVA Mount Vernon Hospital, Alexandria, VA. Born on October 8, 1947 to William Marlin Bright and Margaret Estelle Hummel in Danville, PA, Carol was a 1965 graduate of Northumberland PA High School and a 1966 graduate of the Goldey Beacom School of Business, Wilmington, DE. She was employed as a secretary at a variety of academic, medical, and nonprofit institutions throughout her lifetime, including Bucknell University, the George Washington University, the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, the American Physical Therapy Association, and most notably, the American-Israel Public Affairs Committee. Carol was an avid lover of politics and the arts especially ballet, jazz, and the musical “Peter Pan” and was a passionate advocate for animals. Carol is survived by her husband of 46 years, Thomas O. Schneider of Winter Haven, FL; her daughter Leslie S. Boen of Andover, NJ; her son-in-law Derek S. Boen, also of Andover, NJ; her grandsons Sean C. Boen and Brendan K. Boen; and her beloved cats Linus and Charlie. She was preceded in death by both of her parents, her brother Gerald M. Bright, and her deeply loved Springer Spaniel Jamie.A memorial service is planned for Saturday, March 21 at 1 PM, Cunningham Turch Funeral Home, 811 Cameron Street, Alexandria, VA.
