Beverly (McKinley) Byrne

Died peacefully on Friday, July 28, 2017, at her home in Hollin Hills, Alexandria, VA. She was the daughter of Thomas Henry McKinley and Kathryn (Welch) McKinley. She was born on September 30, 1926 in Kansas City, Missouri, obtained her B.A. from Marquette University and M.A. from George Washington University and taught English and journalism in Fairfax County Virginia public schools from 1970 to 1987. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Edward Byrne, and son David Francis Byrne. She is survived by sons Peter (Stacey Evans), John (Martha Catlin), and Michael Byrne; grandchildren, Ryan, Hannah, Devin, and Miles Byrne, and Jeffrey Catlin; and a sister, Dorothy McKinley. A wake will be held at the family home on Thursday, September 21, 2017 from 4 to 8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Good Shepherd Church, 8710 Mount Vernon Hwy, Alexandria VA, at 10:30 a.m., on Friday, September 22, 2017. A reception will follow in Father Creedon Hall. Private interment at Holy Cross Abbey, Berryville, Virginia. Memorial donations may be made to United Community Ministries or a charity of your choice.
