Yohannes Hailu Woldegiorgis

February 27, 1964 – February 1, 2022

Yohannes Hailu Woldegiorgis was born in Addis Abeba, Ethiopia on February 27, 1964 to his mother Sahlitu Gessesse and father Blatta Hailu Woldegiorgis. He was born and lived in his family’s house at Sidest Kilo, Addis Abeba until he graduated from Teferi Mekonnen High School. He was a caring, sharing, and generous brother, uncle, cousin, and friend to all.
Yohannes believed in the power of education and in public service. That is why he taught in Jimma province Ethiopia under the national literacy campaign and served in the military for two years. Later on, he emigrated from Ethiopia. He first went to Khartoum, Sudan and then joined his brothers and sisters in the USA. He lived in Phoenix, New York, Flagstaff, Los Angeles, Portland, and in Alexandria, VA
Yohannes is loved by his nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends around the world. He has worked in at least five (5) big corporations as a technician and as a supervisor. Because he is such a devoted and hard-working professional Yohannes is loved and respected by his colleagues everywhere.
Yohannes loved many things. He loved telling jokes and stories with a great sense of humor. He loved to laugh. He also loved bread, pasta, pasta al forno, and food in general. He loved to cook. And he loved beer. He loved to play and watch soccer. He loved to watch American football. He loved watching movies. He walked a lot. He loved to go to the gym. And he loved to go to church.
Even though he left us suddenly to go to God in heaven, his fond memories and his legacy will live in our hearts forever.
Yohannes is survived by his brothers Mulugeta Hailu and Girmachew Hailu, and his sisters Hareg Hailu, Azeb Hailu, and Konjit Hailu.
The family is deeply grateful to everyone here for being with us and for comforting us during this difficult time. Thank you for joining us in this celebration of the life of Yohannes.

His loving brothers and sisters,
Mulugeta Hailu, Hareg Hailu, Girmachew Hailu, Azeb Hailu, Konjit Hailu
