Virginia A. Beach

Virginia A. Beach, 84, of Alexandria, died on October 25, 2016 at INOVA Alexandria Hospital. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur C. and Ruth V. O’Connor McHugh, her beloved husband, Louis A. Beach, and her brother, Arthur C. McHugh, Jr. She is survived by her children, Andrew Beach, of Dallas, TX, Ann Marie Telepak Chris of Tampa, FL, Ruth Patel Jamie of Annandale, VA, and Covert Beach, of Alexandria, VA; grandchildren, Laura Trinastic Jonathan, of Washington, DC, Adam Telepak Melissa of Mason, OH, Michael and Daniel Patel of Annandale, VA. She is also survived by her brother, Robert F. McHugh Catharine of Newtonville, NY and devoted sister, Mary Esther Haggerty Tom of Alexandria, VA.Virginia graduated from St. Rose College, Albany, NY with a B.S. in Education and taught third grade in Richmondville, NY. She met Louis while he was in post-doctoral studies at Cornell University. After their marriage, they moved to the Washington, DC area and she was active in alumni, community and service organizations. Louis and Virginia were devoted to each other for more than 54 years. Virginia was a mother and homemaker. She tried to instill her love of classical music in their children. The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 30, 2016 from 4pm to 6pm at Cunningham Turch Funeral Home, 811 Cameron St. Alexandria, VA 22314. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30am on Monday, October 31, 2016 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 8710 Mount Vernon Highway, Alexandria, VA 22309 followed by a reception at the church, and interment at Mount Comfort Cemetery, Alexandria, VA.In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the American Red Cross, at PO Box 37839, Boone, IA 50037-0839 or at redcross.org; or to Compassion International, at Colorado Springs, CO 80997, or at compassion.com
