Robert L. Atchinson, Jr.

Robert Lettley Atchinson, Jr., 72, of Alexandria, died November 28, 2017 at INOVA Alexandria Hospital. He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Eva Evelyn (Moreland) Atchinson, Sr.; siblings, Evelyn Mae Bowie, Marvin, Lewis, and James Atchinson.

He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Joan Atchinson; children, Alina Maddox, Robert Atchinson, III, Christopher and Kimberly Hawkins; grandchildren, Jessica and Lindsay Atchinson, Krista M. and Robert A. Maddox III; and one great grandchild, Amiah R. Cornish; siblings, Leona Jacobs, and Roger Atchinson. He is also survived by many nieces,nephews, and cousins.

Mr. Atchinson was a member of Steamfitters Local # 602, American Legion, and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 609. He enjoyed traveling to Aruba, playing darts and cards, bowling, and reading. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, December 5, 2017 from 5pm-7pm, at Cunningham Turch Funeral Home, 811 Cameron St. Alexandria, VA 22314, followed by a Life Celebration service at 7pm.
