Mary D Powell, 91, passed away Sunday, June 10 into the arms of our Lord and Savior.
She was born and grew up in Atlantic, Virginia. After graduating high school, she moved to Washington, DC and met her husband, Jack Powell. Mary worked at the City of Alexandria Courthouse as a Supervisor in Land Records for 33 years. After retirement, Mary and Jack moved to Florida where they enjoyed trips to Disney World and the beach. She moved to Kennewick, Washington in 2010 to be closer to family.
Mary enjoyed gardening, handwork, going to Baltimore Orioles games, rooting for the Redskins and Capitals. She loved her family! Most importantly, she loved the Lord and was a good and faithful servant.
She was preceeded in death by her husband, Jack Powell, her father Harry Fleming, mother Anna May Fleming, her sisters Virginia Fleming and Lois Williams, brothers, Ames, Russell, Leonard, Orville and Esley.
She is survived by her son, Ronald Powell (Becky), daughters Loretta Powell, Lynn Rutherford (Michael) and several grandchildren and great grandchildren
A viewing will be held at Cunningham Turch in Alexandria on Monday, June 18 from 12:00 to 2:00. Burial will be at Mount Comfort Cemetery on Tuesday, June 19 at 10:00am.
