Marie Katherine Adams

Marie Katherine Adams, 27, passed away on October 5th with her beloved husband, Aidan, by her side. Despite battling metastatic triple-negative breast cancer, Marie was a devoted wife, a loyal daughter, and a fiercely supportive friend. Selfless, humble, and kind to the end, Marie will be remembered for her infectious laugh, bubbly personality, and impeccable talent of planning and organizing events.

During her cherished years at Roanoke College, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in political science, Marie developed her love of hiking and cultivated a set of friendships that would last a lifetime. After graduation, Marie moved to Washington, DC to pursue her passion for politics where she would later meet her husband. Marie’s intelligence, attention to detail, and personal drive led her to become Director of Events at a political nonprofit in just three years, where she masterfully planned and executed large development events. Both loved and respected by her colleagues, Marie’s commitment to work never faded, even as she battled cancer.

Marie was born in Beckley, West Virginia and is survived by her mother, Denise Stancil, brother, Chris Brown, stepfather, John Stancil, her goldendoodle, Nadia, and husband, Aidan Adams. Marie also leaves behind countless friends, including Carlyn Graff, Taylor Kracht, and Kellie Engelmann.

A viewing and visitation will be held for Marie from 5 to 9pm at Cunningham Turch Funeral Home, 811 Cameron Street, Alexandria, VA 22314 on Friday, October 13th followed by a memorial service at 10am on Saturday, October 14th at the funeral home and burial at Columbia Gardens Cemetery.
