Kent Alan Rawlings

Kent was born on April 10, 1966. He was raised partly in New Haven, CT with his parents and a younger brother, Jonathan. He leaves behind aunts, uncles, and many cousins. Kent was very bright, reading on a third grade level before he even entered Kindergarten. He loved to draw and was a talented artist. Kent’s father died when he was a teenager. He then moved to Maryland, with his mother and brother. There he graduated from Eleanor Roosevelt High School in Greenbelt, MD. After High School he enlisted into the Marines, where he successfully served for three years, visited a few Asian countries, and received an honorable discharge. In the summers of his youth, Kent and his brother Jonathan, spent time at their grandparents home in Carrsville, VA.

He attended George Mason university with instruction in teaching and Psychology. He held a number of various jobs until he landed a position at Harris Teeter in Arlington, Virginia. He loved his job there, and was there for about 21 years until he died.

He lived in a house in Arlington, Virginia with four house mates, where he has lived since 1998. He loved Virginia, and loved his neighborhood. He had a passion for Archery and was very good at it. He also loved the Lord Jesus Christ, enjoyed reading the Bible and had memorized many passages. And he also loved music.

Kent passed away peacefully, on October the 3rd, 2019, in the presence of his mother and stepfather. A memorial service will be held at Cunningham Turch Funeral home, 811 Cameron St. Alexandria, Virginia, on October 26, at 2pm. Reception to immediately follow.
