Harvey Tompkins

Harvey J. Tompkins Jr., 79 of Alexandria, passed away Saturday June 17, 2017 in his home. He was born February 21, 1938 in Madison Wisconsin, the son of the late Harvey John Tompkins MD and Margaret Ruddy Tompkins. Harvey was a graduate of St. John’s College High School in Washington D.C and attended VPI in Blacksburg Va. Surviving are his three children, John H. Tompkins and wife Shari of Baltimore, Phillip R. Tompkins and wife Roya of Dallas, and Cate Tompkins Dyer and husband Andy of Chicago. Harvey adored his six grandchildren Connor, Jake, Ryan, Bentley, Sloane and Chase. In addition Harvey leaves his sister Patricia Marie Murphy and husband Wayne of Florham Park, NJ and two nieces, Michelle Murphy Bender, husband Jim and son Connor, also of Florham Park, and Sharon Murphy Shattuck, husband Andy and daughter Quinlan of Alexandria.Harvey has many loving cousins and family in Chicago and many life-long friends in Mount Vernon. He will be missed.Services are currently being planned.
