Elizabeth Conaway Owen, 90, of Alexandria, Virginia died April 27, 2024. She was the daughter of Marie and Charles Conaway (deceased) of Rew, Pa. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Conaway Kilpatrick (Jeffrey) of Bradford, PA.

Mrs. Owen had a history of 53 years of service with the United States government.

From 1961-64 she was with the Army Corps of Engineers-Minuteman Ballistic Missile Construction in Minot, North Dakota.

In 1964 she joined the Minot AFB in a position with 91SG/Finance

In 1968 she transferred to the March AFB in California and served as the secretary to the Surgeon General.

In 1984 she relocated to Ottawa, Ontario, Canada where she served as secretary to the Commander and Chief of the USAF-CF offices exchange.

In 1989 she returned to the states and served in the Pentagon for 11 years.

From 2000-2001 she joined the office of assistant secretary of Defense for command, control, communication and intelligence.

From 2001-2002 she served as the Director, commission on the future of the US aerospace industry.

From 2002-2010 she returned to the Dept. of the Air Force serving as confidential assistant to the undersecretary of the Air Force.

From 2010-2014 she served as operations planner and analyst in the office of the undersecretary of Defense.

There will be a private comital service at Willow Dale cemetery on June 7, 2024.
