Edgardo Delos Reyes Hernandez

On July 24, 2023, Edgardo “Eddie” Hernandez passed away at Georgetown Hospital surrounded with his loving family. He is a loving husband, proud father of two, supportive father-in-law and grandfather of one. Eddie was born in Manila, Philippines on October 10, 1961 to Nelly and late Eddie Hernandez. He married Editha Hernandez in 2004 but they’ve been together since 1988 and would later have children: April and Gerard. He is the oldest brother of seven siblings: Josefina, Raymond, Paz, Nazareth, Marissa and Bong. Eddie was known for the unwavering support and unconditional love he would give to those who had the honor of meeting him.

At early young age, Eddie started working in the Philippines to help his parents and siblings. Later he came to the United States, where he devoted himself working 2 jobs to provide the needs of his family when they were in the Philippines. Eddie always made family his priority. Eddie was a hardworking and dedicated person at Medstar National Rehabilitation Hospital for almost 20 years. He worked from two departments at Medstar NRH.

Eddie loved to watch movies, cleaned the house, enjoyed listening to music, spending quality time with family, sharing his life stories with family and friends. He was always willing to help people even though he did not have anything to give. He would shower everyone he met with an overwhelming amount of unconditional love. Eddie was an exceptional cook, his recipes represented the love he gave, will continue to be the talk at family gatherings and will be carried on with the generations to come.

Eddie will be remembered for many things: his wonderful sense of humor, his strong faith, his love and support of family and friends, his profound interest in sports and current events. However, what gave him the greatest joy and made him the happiest was spending time with his family, his wife, children and granddaughter.

Eddie is survived by his wife, mother, sisters, brothers, daughter, son, son-in-law, granddaughter, nieces, friends and other family members. Eddie will be deeply missed by all but never forgotten. We will never forget Eddie for his generosity and his open heart. May he rest in eternal peace, knowing that his life has a purpose, compassion and unwavering dedication.

Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
