Dr. Ayne F. Furman

Dr. Ayne F Furman, podiatrist and 30+ year resident of Alexandria, VA, passed on the 26th of September, 2021, after a yearslong battle with cancer. Ayne is survived by her husband Arnold Miller, her son Leo Braudy, and her stepson Joseph Miller.

Ayne was a graduate of the University of Maryland where she majored in Kinesiology, and the Illinois (now Dr. William M Scholl) College of Podiatric Medicine, becoming one of the first female podiatrists in the country. She practiced for over 33 years and owned her own practice in Alexandria, specializing in sports medicine and gait analysis. Patients traveled from all over the world for her services and expertise.

Ayne was a devoted wife, mother, runner, golfer, rower (owned her own shell), friend and avid traveler. She hiked the Grand Canyon, swam with sea lions in the Galapagos Islands, golfed at TPC Sawgrass, and ran several marathons, including the Marine Corps and Chicago. She had a great number of admirers, including renowned athletes and medical professionals.
