David Joel Platt passed away on June 23rd. David was born on July 17th, 1951, at George Washington Hospital in Washington D.C. to Daniel and Ruth Platt.
David grew up in Arlington and Alexandria Virginia respectively. He spent much of his youth at the Shirlington Delicatessen, which his parents owned, and which he and family remember fondly. Following several years of college, David began a career in computer systems analysis and project management. He became an expert in configuration management and was known for his ability to solve complex problems. He worked for a multitude of companies; most notably GTE, Network Solutions, College Board, and Fannie Mae. He loved the challenge of his job and, most especially, his fantastic coworkers.
David had many passions outside of his career. His favorite sports teams were the Washington Redskins, the Washington Kastles team tennis, and the University of Tennessee women’s basketball team. He loved cooking, cruises, and raising Shar Pei puppies. He was an active member at Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts. He loved meeting new people and his infectious laugh often resulted in those people becoming fast friends. He will be remembered as a person who cared deeply for others, be it relative, colleague, or stranger. He will be deeply missed.
David is survived by his brother Michael Platt, his niece Dawn Krynitsky (Jeff), his nephew Samuel Platt (Karen), his niece Katherine Nelson (Steven), and his nephew Matthew Aguilar. He is also survived by his great nephews Brian Krynitsky (Sara) and John Krynitsky, and his great niecess Sierra Krynitsky, Jessica Krynitsky, Mary Krynitsky, and Anna Platt. He is also survived by two great great nephews, Julian and Emmett Krynitsky and great great niece Irene Krynitsky.
