Dr. Connell J. Trimber

Dr. Connell James Trimber, MD 83, of Alexandria, VA died on December 18, 2017 at Woodbine Nursing Home. “Connie” is predeceased by his wife of 54 years, Mary Anne Trimber and survived by his 9 children: Connell J. Trimber, Jr., Paul F. Trimber, Maureen T. Trimber, Margaret M. Loftus (Don), Cecelia M. Gilliam (Mike), Richard F. Trimber (Jane), Sean E. Trimber (Heather), Dorothy M. Bryant (Chris) and Mary Anne Ridling (Jon); 26 grandchildren; and brother, Eugene “Skip” Trimber (Mary). Dr. Trimber was a member of the Belle Haven Country Club, Knight of Holy Sepulchre, Past Member of the Virginia Board of Medicine, Past President of Alexandria Host Lions Club, President of the Board of Regents for Ascension Academy and a Board Member of Virginia to Prevent Blindness. First in his family attend college, Connie graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1956, Jefferson Medical College in 1960, served as a LT in the US Navy and received a Masters in Surgery from Georgetown University in 1968. He was on staff at Inova Alexandria, Fairfax and Mt. Vernon Hospital and in Private Practice in Alexandria from 1968 – 2009.

Dr. Trimber’s dedication to his faith, family and medical practice caused him to rise every morning at 5:30, and after 6:30 mass, arrive his first patient appointment at 7am – except for Thursdays – that day was reserved for his favorite part of work: performing eye surgeries.

Dr. Trimber cared for all patients no matter their ability to pay and throughout the years Connie brought home an enviable collection of gifts and treats from patients in his care that would knit a quilt or bake a cake as payment.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday December 27, 2017 at Cunningham Turch Funeral Home, 811 Cameron St., Alexandria, VA 22314. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30am on Thursday December 28, 2017 at St. Mary Catholic Church, 309 S. Royal St., Alexandria, VA 22314.
