Brian T. Sullivan, 60, of Alexandria, VA died February 26, 2017 after an extended illness. He grew up in Guilford, Connecticut, the son of the late Gerald and Helen Sullivan. Brian was predeceased by his brother, Gerald Sullivan and nephew, Matthew Sullivan.He is survived by his brothers, Dennis Helen of Colchester, CT; John Andy Sullivan of Rockville, MD; and his sister, Margaret Higgins Stephen of Marietta, GA; sister-in-law, Kathleen Sullivan of East Randolph, VT; nephews, Patrick Sullivan Amy of Charleston, SC and Michael Sullivan of Northfield, VT; his partner John Burak of Alexandria, a large extended family, and many friends.Prior to retirement, Brian was an IRS agent and international tax analyst. In retirement, he worked as an accountant for local banks and hotels. Brian loved his pets Ginny, Chesapeake, and Gracie, gardening, traveling, and being outdoors. He was a member of the Prime Timers DC, a member of the Transplant Recipients International Organization, and volunteered for the National Zoo.A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, March 2, 2017 at Cunningham Turch Funeral Home, 811 Cameron St., Alexandria, VA 22314. Inurnment and a family celebration of life will take place at a later date in Connecticut.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Transplant Recipients International Organization TRIO, 13705 Current Loop, Gainesville VA 20155-3031.
