Bonita J. Zuro “Bonnie” o f Alexandria, Virginia, age 77, died at her home on November 1, 2020. She is predeceased by her father, William Miller, who was killed in action in Normandy, France, during WWII, and her loving mother, Mary K. Leitner of Richeyville, PA.
She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Steve Zuro; two children, Kelly Edenburn (James), of Alexandria and John Zuro of Athens, GA; and four grandchildren, Steven, Jay, Starlene and Noah. She is also survived by three sisters, Mary Lou Leitner, Alexandria, Adele (Leitner) Messer, Oakdale, PA and Gloria (Leitner) Brooks, Ellwood City, PA. Bonnie worked as the head of personnel security at the Naval Research Laboratory, Washington, D.C. Following retirement, she and husband Steve worked as emergency room registrars at Mount Vernon Hospital, Alexandria, VA. In her spare time, she enjoyed classic movies, 1950s music, crossword puzzles, family vacations at Bethany Beach, DE and spending time with her grandson, Steven.
The viewing will be at Cunningham Turch Funeral Home, 811 Cameron Street, Alexandria, VA on November 6, 2020 from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm. A funeral Mass will be held at St. Louis Catholic Church, 2907 Popkins Lane, Alexandria, VA on Saturday, November 7, 2020 at 1:30 pm. At 3:00 pm, following the funeral Mass, interment will be at Mount Comfort Cemetery, 6600 South Kings Highway, Alexandria, VA.
