Barbara Sue passed away peacefully on Sunday Morning May 28, 2023 in Winder, Ga.

Barbara Sue Holly was born February 15, 1934, in Elizabethton, Tennessee. She grew up in Watauga, Tennessee as well as Springfield, Stafford, and Alexandria Virginia. She graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 1952 and was a majorette and was crowned Miss Mount Vernon 1952. She attended both George Washington University and graduated from West Valley College, Saratoga CA. Barbara Sue was Miss Tennessee in the 1954 Miss Universe Pageant.

Barbara Sue is survived by her husband of 69 years George Bement, Sons Bruce (Janet) Bement and Brian (Lauren) Bement, and daughter Brenda (William) Lowe. Barbara Sue is also survived by her sister Patricia (Richie) Zaia, and brother Jerry Holly. Barbara Sue had 8 grandchildren Laura Bement, Leslie Bement, Tessa Hughes, Spencer (Chloe) Bement, Paul (Samantha) Bement, Kyle Lowe, Grace Lowe and Thomas Lowe. Barbara Sue has 2 great grandchildren Jackson and Nathan Bement.

Barbara Sue was preceded in death by father Rhudy Holly, mother Ellen Holly, sister Jeanette Norris and brother Wallace Holly.

Barbara Sue married George Bement Jr., whom she dated in High School, in Honolulu, HI, Aug 3, 1954. They made homes in Honolulu, Hi., where Gearoge was staioned in the US Navy the transferred to San Jose CA, where George left the Navy for his career and they resided for 62 years. Their last home in was in Dacula, Ga., Where George still resides today. Her family and faith were extremely important to her.

She attended Willow Glen Baptist Church, Foxworthy Baptist Church, and South Hills Community Church. She enjoyed gardening, travel, and politics, but most of all her family. She was very disciplined and a goal setter. She was an avid reader of many subjects, her favorite book being the Bible.

Barbara Sue was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother and will be missed greatly by all who knew her.
