BERTHA RUBIO RODRIGUEZ

Bertha Elena Rubio Rodriguez (1929-2020), beloved wife of Natanael Rodriguez, mother of Alma, Lisa, and Veronica, mother-in-law of Cory Green and Tom Hewlett, cherished grandmother of Daniel Mercado, Soledad and Tess Green, and Josephine Hewlett, was taken to be with the Lord on November 11, 2020.

Bertha was born in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico on 16 August 1929 to Gumercindo and Elena Rubio. Her siblings included two brothers and two sisters, Consuelo, Rodolfo, Margarita, and Salvador. She met her husband of 63 years, Natanael, in San Antonio, Texas. They were married on 4 May 1957. Together they raised three daughters in Texas. They lived in San Antonio, Houston, and Dallas, Texas, and Aiea, Hawaii before moving to Fairfax, Virginia. Bertha had a lifelong passion for sewing and gardening. She loved to cook and entertain, and her door was always open to family and friends. She adored her four grandchildren and was an enormous influence on each of them.

Bertha is survived by her husband, Natanael Rodriguez; her brother, Salvador Rubio; three loving daughters, Alma Green of Fairfax, Virginia, Lisa Mercado of Houston, Texas, and Veronica Hewlett of Ashburn, Virginia; and her four grandchildren, Daniel Mercado, Soledad and Tess Green, and Josephine Hewlett. She was predeceased by her siblings Consuelo Morales, Rodolfo Rubio, and Margarita Lemus.

Due to the pandemic and Bertha’s last wishes, there will be a small family gathering to celebrate Bertha’s life and honor her memory.

Bertha Elena Rubio Rodriguez (1929-2020), amada esposa de Natanael Rodriguez, madre de Alma, Lisa, y Veronica, suegra de Cory Green y, Tom Hewlett, querida abuela de Daniel Mercado, Soledad y Tess Green, y Josephine Hewlett, se fue para estar con Nuestro Señor el 11 de noviembre de 2020.

Nació Bertha en Monterrey, Nuevo León, México, el 16 de agosto de 1929, hija de Gumercindo y Elena Rubio. Sus hermanos incluían dos hermanos y dos hermanas, Consuelo, Rodolfo, Margarita y Salvador. Conoció a su marido, Natanael, en San Antonio, Texas. Se casaron el 4 de mayo de 1957, y disfrutaron 63 años de matrimonio. Juntos criaron a tres hijas en Texas. Vivieron en San Antonio, Houston y Dallas, Texas, y en Aiea, Hawaii, antes de mudarse a Fairfax, Virginia. Toda su vida Bertha tenía una pasión por la costura y la jardinería. Le encantaba cocinar y entretener, y su puerta siempre estaba abierta a familiares y amigos. Ella adoraba a sus cuatro nietos y era una enorme influencia en cada uno de ellos.

A Bertha le sobrevive su marido, Natanael Rodriguez; su hermano, Salvador Rubio; tres hijas amorosas, Alma Green de Fairfax, Virginia, Lisa Mercado de Houston, Texas, y Veronica Hewlett de Ashburn, Virginia; y sus cuatro nietos, Daniel Mercado, Soledad y Tess Green, y Josephine Hewlett. Fue precedida en la muerte por sus hermanos Consuelo Morales, Rodolfo Rubio, y Margarita Lemus.
