“The only thing that matters in this life is who you love, who loves you, and where you are spending eternity.”
Mary Ann Pollacco peacefully entered into her eternal home while surrounded by her loving family on December 21, 2019, at the age of 58 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Born April 29, 1961, in Anchorage, Alaska, to the late William and Catherine Pollacco. Mary Ann was the beloved mother of Christina Costigan (husband Joe), and Natalia Romo-Leroux; cherished Nana of Saleena Titus; beloved niece of Mary Celia; and loving sister of Marjorie Fehrenbach and Michael Pollacco. Mary Ann’s sister Catherine and brother Paul predeceased her. Mary Ann also leaves several loving nieces and nephews.
Mary Ann loved to dance, share stories, laugh, entertain, cook elaborate meals, travel, spend time with family and friends, volunteer at her church, and kick back and relax at home while watching all of the wildlife that flocked to her backyard in Mason Neck, Virginia. Family lovingly dubbed her “Dr. Doolittle” for her ability to connect with and gain the trust of animals – both wild and domestic – including the cardinal “Roberto.” Mary Ann ran several businesses throughout her life, including an in-home daycare, a concierge and catering service, and as an estate manager to many tenants who became family to her.
When it became apparent that her time with us was drawing near, she met that truth head on with courage, strength, positivity, and a faith so strong that left many in awe. She sang, joked, rejoiced, prayed, and enjoyed her time with the 100+ visitors who came to the hospital to say their goodbyes. It was simply magical, moving, and unforgettable – just like Mary Ann. She touched countless lives and was loved by all who knew her. Mary Ann will be sorely missed, but her legacy will undoubtedly live on in the lives of those who loved her so.
The family will receive friends for a Celebration of Life service at Reality Gospel Church, 5937 Franconia Road, Alexandria, VA 22310, on Saturday, January 11, 2020 at 1:00 PM. A reception will immediately follow.
