Wilhelmina E. VroomenWilhelmina “Miep” Elisa Hermans Vroomen, 78, of Alexandria, passed away on December 17, 2014, with her family by her side. She was born to the late Hendrik and Christina Hermans on January 6, 1936, in Voerendaal, Limberg, The Netherlands. She married Hubert Vroomen in 1957, and they immigrated to the United States in 1961, where they lived in the towns of Hillsdale, NJ, and Dallas and Tunkhannock, PA. Widowed in 1988, Miep moved to Alexandria in 1996 to live near her son, Harry, and her granddaughter Monica. Miep enjoyed travelling, cooking, and time with family. Miep is survived by her son, Harry Vroomen, of Alexandria; her granddaughter Monica; her companion, William Peck; sisters Christel Bob Osterhoudt and Annie Ser Senden; brother Wiel Elly Hermans, and many beloved nieces and nephews and their children. She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings Ellie Hynekamp and Leo Hermans, and husband Hubert Vroomen. Memorial contributions can be made to “Music and Memory” at musicandmemory.org.
