Veloris Edwards

Edwards e1509470488617

On Sunday October 29, 2017 our beloved V. Jean Edwards departed this life. She was the daughter to the Late George T, and Lacy Ann Williams, and one of the youngest of 8 children.

She attended Greene County Public School in Snow Hill , NC and graduated with a Master in Special Education from the North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University known as NC A&T.

She spent many years as a educator who was a caring teacher that showed more interest in her students that exceeded academics. She cared for her students as though they were her own.

She was the Vice President of Edwards Trucking Company, a business that she opened and operated with her husband. Business was successful, making them one of the most accomplished African-American Business owners in the area.

Jean spent a short time serving the Speaker of the House in Washington, DC. which she enjoyed tremendously during her time there.

She attended the Spirit of Peace Baptist church where she diligently served as a deaconess and was a faithful contributor to the ministry.

She enjoyed traveling, and being with close friends and family. She seized every moment and made it enjoyable for all that would come in contact with her. She left vigorous impressions to those that would meet her, and lasting relationships to all that would know her.

She leaves to cherish her memory a loving, caring and devoted husband of 54 years, Leon A. Edwards, and her two children Reginald Edwards(Sherry), and Tiena Edwards. Her two sisters, Dorothy Clark (Washington DC) , and Sabrina Hickman (Greenville, NC). One grandson Reginald Charles Edwards, one granddaughter Miesha Dockery and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was also very loving and nurturing to her God-children who she adored genuinely, Julia Chaney (Winston) and Malika Taylor Phillips.

She possessed an inner drive that despite all odds, she never allowed pain to suffocate her purpose & passion. Though she will be tremendously missed, I celebrate her life and I thank God that her suffering is over. She now has her reward. She is a winner & a CHAMPION! Race well ran Mrs. Edwards. 20. Robbie Stewart says:

May the promise found at Isaiah 25:8 bring some comfort in the death of Veloris Edwards. “He will swallow up death forever. The Sovereign Lord will wipe away the tears from all faces.” Just imagine no more pain and grief due to the death of a love one! By mean of the Kingdom that Jesus Christ taught us to pray for God will remove sickness, old age and death from the human family. No human suffering of kind!
