Ruth Ann Bishop

Ruth Ann Bishop

Bishop

Ruth Ann Bishop ascended on February 4th, 2023. She was greeted in heaven by her loved ones who passed before her, parents James Joseph and Eleanore Alma Heron and her partner in love for 50 years, Billy Owen Rorer.

Surviving family, who will continue to celebrate her life include her daughter Patty Bishop Ramos (Steven), her son James Wade Bishop, grandsons Kevin, Dylan and Logan Salter and Beau Bishop. She was very thrilled that she finally got the girl that she was waiting for when her great-granddaughter Raelyn Ariah Bishop was born.

Ruth was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on March 14th 1940. Her father was a career Navy officer and as a result she attended 17 schools between 1st and 12th grades. She loved maps because as they moved frequently she would follow each journey on her map!

Upon graduating from high school in Reseda, California she became a dental assistant. Ruth settled in Alexandria, Virginia and worked for Dr. Wallace Edens and later Dr. Jon Williams. She started as a dental assistant and then became the office manager. She cared and had compassion for patients and co-workers that was consistent and genuine.

Ruth was a fierce and loving mother, leading by example. She had a tender heart and a soft spot for animals. Although she had two children many called her mom. All were always welcome in her home and after hugs and greetings were offered food and drink. She shared her love and was loved in return by many.

Ruth will be missed by all who loved her but we will take comfort in knowing that her spirit, the lessons she taught us and the unconditional love she shared will always be with us.

God asked us to love one another as I have loved you. Ruth loved.

  7. Cynthia Miller says:

Auntie Ruth was the Mother I always wished I had. I am so thankful that I found her via my cousin Patty after nearly 40 years. I got to FaceTime with her every evening when I visited Patty in September and it just made my heart dance with joy. She was never judgmental. She was a light in my life and I’m glad that she knew how much peace she brought into a troubled, lost and motherless little girl’s life. Rest in peace, my sweet beautiful mermaid Auntie❤️I know you’ll continue to watch over me from your place in the heavens. And don’t forget to mind your manners, you’re back with Auntie El now and gotta stay on your p’s and q’s😁

  8. Cindy Foss says:

My deepest love and sympathy to my Best Friend Patty Bishop Ramos and her entire family. I was lucky enough to have spent time with Ruth in her home, and even out on the town. Upon meeting and getting to know Ruth, I realized where my friend Patty obtained her charm, wisdom and beauty. I regret that I did not spend more time in Ruth’s world. Fortunately, I have the opportunity to spend the rest of my life being a true friend to her lovely daughter Patty. I think this would be what Ruth would want of me, and I plan to deliver! Enjoy the Heavenly Kingdom, Dear Ruth, until we meet again.

  9. Krissy says:

  10. Obits says:

    Dear Patty, Jimmy and grandchildren,

Today, we are sad for the loss of our beloved Ruth. Today, we are joyful for the years she has been in our lives. We want to share our thoughts about her.
“She was a jewel” , Dr. E’s words when he learned of her death. Certainly that is an appropriate description of her. Like a jewel, she had many facets.
    Her loyalty knew no bounds
    Her kindness encompassed all
    Her patience transcended any difficulty
Her honesty blessed all she touched
    Her smile lit the room
Her calmness created serenity around others

In the words of Eleanor Roosevelt: “ Many people walk in and out of your life but only true friends leave footprints on your heart” As we grieve our loss of Ruth we are grateful for being part of her life for over 50 years. Today we have footprints
    on our heart.
