Robert Daniel Brown of Old Town, Alexandria Virginia, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, November 23, 2018.

Robert was born June 12, 1952 to the union of James and Thelma Brown of Williamsport, Pennsylvania. Robert moved to Washington, DC in 1974. He auditioned and was accepted to “The Don Downing Show Band featuring Rich and Famous” as the drummer in 1974. He continued to perform with the band until the 1980s. He later decided to take a job with a Real Estate Development firm called Quadrangle Development he was a Systems Administrator where he continued to be employed.

Robert accepted Christ in 1981 and was baptized at Free Gospel Church in Capital Heights, Maryland and later became a member of Alfred Street Baptist Church in Alexandria, Virginia.

Robert met the love of his life and long time companion Sonja McCormick in 1975. To this union was born Robert Marcel Brown. He also has a daughter from a previous relationship named Lorinda Hughes.

Robert enjoyed Photography, Origami and writing poetry, an avid reader.
He was preceded by his father, James O. Brown and mother Thelma M. Brown and sister Marcelene (Jackson) Brown.

Robert leaves to cherish his memory: his wife Sonja Brown; son Robert Marcel Brown; daughter Lorinda Hughes; two brothers James Brown and John Brown; one sister Leslie Brown; two grandchildren Rayshaun and Celina Hughes; two great grandchildren Rayshaun Jr. and Roman Hughes; three nieces Malinda, Jimmae, Marcelene; two grand nieces Bailey and Alexis; three grand nephews Caleb, Maleak, Izaiah; and a host of other relatives and friends.

We look forward to our reunion in Heaven…

    To The Brown Family, I pray that the peace, love and strength of God will surround you in your time of sorrow. I was deeply saddened to hear of Robert’s passing. I have worked with him since he started with Quadrangle in September of 1989. He was just a genuinely nice person!!!!
