RICHARD PITT BLISS of Lake Greenwood, SC died at his home on July 19, 2008. He was born February 26, 1932 in Rockville Centre, New York and a former resident of Alexandria and Colonial Beach Virginia . Son of the late Col. Robert and Edna Bliss. Married for 55 years to Shirley Jean Bliss, father of the late Richard Pitt Bliss II, Cynthia Cox and son in law, Robert Cox, Ginny Wagner and son in law Mark Wagner, both of Lake Greenwood, SC. Grandfather of the late Jean Marie, Christy June, Dustin Larkin-Bliss, and Bliss Nicole; Great Grandfather of Jadah Marie. Brother of Barbara & husband Wayne Miesen of FL, Laura & husband Charlie Linkee of Hawaii. Brother in law of Mike & Betty Monroe, Dorothy Rollins and Christa Monroe, all of Alexandria, VA; numerous nieces & nephews. He retired after 38 years with the Federal Government, was an Air Force Veteran, a member of the Loyal Order Moose for over 30 years and was a past Senior Warden of St. Mary?s Episcopal Church. A graveside service will be held at 12 PM on Friday, July 25, 2008 at Pohick Episcopal Church Church Cemetery in Lorton, VA. Flowers can be sent to Cunningham Funeral Home, Alexandria, VA or donations to the American Cancer Society.

    Aunt Shirley, Cindy and Ginny and family: Our larger family have lost alot of good members; but the memories we have will never fade. I was just going through some of Mom’s pictures and came across many, many pictures of picnics, card nights, and family gatherings at your home in Lorton, the trailer in Colonial Beach and in Daddy’s crabhouse.
