Ramón Santiago Aracena, 59, passed away peacefully on December 8, 2017. Ramón is survived by his loving daughter, Katherine Aracena. He is also survived by sister Elena Aracena Blamey, brothers José Aracena Blamey and Francisco Aracena Blamey, and numerous other friends and extended family. Ramón was Chief Economist for Latin America at the Institute of International Finance. He held a masters degree in Economics from the University of Chicago. A native of Chile, Ramón was an expert in policy implementation and country risk analysis with extensive first-hand experience in the region. Traveling, hiking and playing soccer with family and friends were favorite pastimes. Ramón will be missed greatly by all who knew him.
A Memorial Service and Life Celebration will be held Friday December 15, 2017 from 11:00am-1:00pm at Cunningham Turch Funeral Home; 811 Cameron St. Alexandria Va 22314

To Ramon’s Family,
I am shocked and saddened to hear of the passing of Ramon. He left you and his friends way too soon. I feel truly blessed to have had Ramon as a friend. His warmth and sense of humor always brought joy to my life when I was around him. He had a real love for life and especially his family. We would often talk about the joys and concerns of raising a daughter. To Katherine I want to say that your father loved you beyond what words can describe. He was extremely proud of you.
I will miss him tremendously. I pray that our Lord Jesus Christ will comfort you in the coming days and provide you with reassurance that Ramon now dwells with him.
