Ralph Leslie Benjamin
Ralph Benjamin died quietly in his Alexandria home on June 24, 2020. He was surrounded by his beloved wife and two daughters.

Ralph was born in Findlay, Ohio, and raised in Akron, Ohio. He moved to Alexandria, Virginia, in his early 20s to attend George Washington University where he earned a Bachelors in Accounting.

Ralph was drafted into the U.S. Army for the Vietnam War in 1968. He returned home to Alexandria, Virginia, and his young wife and newborn daughter in 1969. His second daughter was born in 1972.

Ralph was an avid angler, foodie, reader and gardener. While he and his wife raised their daughters, he worked as an accountant. On weekends he and Mary worked on their home, upgrading it every few years to meet their needs. He enjoyed working on the family home so much, that when he retired from accounting, he started a handy man business serving the Alexandria area.

Ralph is survived by his wife, Mary, daughters Dawn Semidey and Angela Benjamin, grandsons Ryan and Cody Semidey, his sister Karen Morefield, brother Lonnie Benjamin and his beloved boxer, Riley. He was preceded in death by his younger brother Steve Benjamin and his beloved boxer, Ozzie.

Due to travel precautions with the current pandemic environment, there will not be a service. There will be an inurnment at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, his family has chosen a place for donations to be made in Ralph’s honor. The Capital Area Food Bank aligns with Ralph’s love of food and helping the needy.
