Phebe Brownlee Payne died December 27, 2011 in Woodbridge, VA. Phebe was a World War II veteran of the Woman?s Army Corp. She is survived by her husband, G.C. ?Jack? Payne, Jr.; two daughters, Crystal Calise Georgeof Cotuit, MA and Virginia Jean Payne of Cary, NC; two sons, Jack Robin Payne Paulaof Rixeyville, VA and George Brownlee Payne Janet Pendergraph of Lake Ridge, VA; and two sisters, Jean Fry of Mason City, IA and Bernita Noble of Sioux City, IA. Also survived by three grandchildren, Michael Payne , Meredith Stotzner, Danielle Viens-Payne; and two great grandchildren, Pierce and Halycon Stotzner. A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 30, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Cunningham Funeral Home, 811 Cameron Street, Alexandria, VA. Inurnment at Quantico National Cemetery will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Phebe?s name may be made to ACTS of Prince William County www.actspwc.org, the Christian Appalachian Project www.christianapp.org, or the Disabled American Veterans www.dav.org.

I will always remember Phebe as “Mrs. Payne”; a great neighbor and a wonderful woman. Her smile was contagious, and she was a very loving person. I will miss her. I know Creator holds her closely now.
