Patsy Stadle Graves

Patsy Stadle Graves 1

Patsy Stadle Graves took her last breath and peacefully slipped into eternity on April 30, 2020. She was 89 years old.

Patsy was born July 9, 1930 in Blue Island, IL to Dr. and Mrs. Wendell H. Stadle. At a young age the Stadle family relocated to Battle Creek, MI where her father established his medical practice. Patsy was the middle daughter of 3 Sister Janet being the oldest and Sylvia the youngest.

Patsy relocated to Marshall, MI following her marriage to Robert Graves (Bob) of Royal Oak, MI whom she had met while attending Michigan State University. Patsy and Bob’s first son Robert Jr. (Bobby) was born in 1952 while the growing family was still in Marshall.

Following life in Michigan, Patsy lived for over 65 years in the south Chicago suburb of Park Forest, IL. Patsy was very active during her earlier years raising Bobby and son John who was born in 1954. In later years Patsy was active in many civic causes.

Patsy and Bob were long-time members of Faith United Protestant Church of Park Forest serving on many boards, committees over the years. Patsy loved everything about their close-knit community and their long-time friends. While given the opportunity, Patsy never wanted to live anywhere else but Park Forest.

Health concerns took her to Alexandria, Virginia in 2017 with her husband of 68 years to live with their son and daughter-in-law Melissa until her passing. Patsy was predeceased by her son Robert Jr. and Sister Janet (Van Gorder).

Survivors include her husband, Robert, son, John (Melissa), daughter in-law, Lauren Graves, and six grandchildren, Austin Graves, Hannah (Graves) Pagayo (Isaiah), Sabine Graves, Megan Graves, Christopher Graves and Molly Graves.

A special thanks to all of the staff including the administrators, nurses, activities personnel and CNA’s at Spring Hills Mount Vernon. Their love and attentiveness to Patsy contributed immensely to her quality of life as she completed the final leg of her life journey in their care. We thank God for you and the many ways you have blessed our family through your loving care of Patsy.

I didn’t know Patsy but I am very close to her sister Sylvia Rundquist who lives in East Lansing and is on of the most wonderful people I have ever met. From reading this obituary I, know Patsy was just as lovely as her sister Sylvia. We who know Sylvia grieve the loss of her last living sibling
With love and prayers to her relatives during this difficult time

  13. Therese Goodrich says:

I have missed my friends Patsy and Bob since they left Park Forest. I often hear of something that the League of Women Voters is doing and I am ready to call Patsy and tell her that I’d be glad to pick her up. I remember their fun at Chictauqua when we all went together. She was one of the early attendees, the rest of us started just a few years back. Her love for Park Forest is shared by many of us “old timers”. Rest in Peace, my dear friend. Therese
