We had not had the pleasure of meeting Pat until his last days. One day when we visited Margie, Pat was in great physical pain; however, he persevered in looking after Marge’s welfare–preparing her lunch, giving her the meds and just sitting there watching after her. We were impressed with his selfless attitude.
I knew Patrick Schurman well through my grandparents the “Guiffre’s” and I always enjoyed seeing him. I remember his lively manner when I was about 9 and 10 and would often have a hyperactive personality due to ADHD. He was always cheering and happy to joke along with my joke of “Hey kid you want to fight”. I had just seen him sometime in the early winter around Christmas and he looked good as always. I am very sorry about his lost and past word to my grandparents. My sympathy to his family.
I send my condolences to family of patrick Schurnan.
Obviously, Mom and I are stunned. He has been family for such a long time, and a great friend as well. Our hearts and our prayers go out to you, and thank you for your help and kindness, even during such a trying time. We are grateful for having had the opportunity to know him, and all of you. And long for the time when we will meet with him once again.
I am a retired electrician that did lots of work in old town Alexandria. Worked on many jobs with Pat. He was a fun guy to work around and I will miss his jokes and friendly ways. My sympathy goes out to the family members and all of Pats other friends
Patrick was a dear man who will be missed by many. From the moment I met Pat he became an instant part of my life in Old Town. There was never a time that I called Pat for help that he wasn’t there for me no matter what the time. I enjoyed his company as did my three girls. They called him Mr. Pat and would yell for him to wave as he drove around Old Town in his rainbow van. We will miss him very much.
What a shock to read about Pat’s passing. I am so sorry for your loss as well as our family’s loss of a good friend. I am so glad that Pat and Mom had such a good relationship for so many years – and I did enjoy seeing him when I would visit.
I had the honor of knowing Patrick fo 29 years. Early in our friendship he was there for me when I had personal issues.
My sympathy to the Schurman Family.
May our friend and painter/psychologist/Mr. Fix-it-for-life, rest in peace. Patrick was, and we’ll always remember him as, an energetic, people-loving force in our community and we hope the ‘rainbow trucks’ will continue to roll in his honor. God bless you, Patrick, and our thoughts are with the family.
We met Patrick almost 20 years ago and have had an angel on our shoulder ever since. Always there when we needed him, solving problems and giving advice regardless of what or where the need was. If the sky is a prettier color these days, I am sure it is because Pat has picked out just the right color for all of us. We will miss him dearly.
My deepest condolences to the Schurman Family. Pat was a loyal customer of ours for over 20 years. We did most of his trucks and job signs but the most enjoyable projects were the rolling pins he would bring in to letter as wedding gifts which said “use daily with love”. He was quite a charecter but below the rough surface he had a heart of gold. He will be greatly missed.
Our deepest sympathies for your loss. The world has lost a character and we will truly miss him very much.
