Patrick James White, an engineer and resident of Cabin John, MD died on Sunday, December 11, 2022, at 5:30 am at Sibley Memorial Hospital after a long battle with cancer.
Pat is survived by his wife, Dianne Swinton White, his daughter Danielle, his two grandsons Alfred (AJ) and Darrien (DJ), his sister Judi Corriveau, two nephews and a host of relatives and friends. He is predeceased by his father William Edward White, his mother Reva A. White, and his brother Gary White.
Pat was born in Northampton, Massachusetts on July 21, 1948, to William and Reva White. He graduated from Union College with a degree in Physics and earned a master’s degree, and a Ph.D. at the University of Virginia in Material Science. On September 27, 2003, he married Dianne Swinton and was father to Danielle Swinton, grandfather to Alfred (AJ), and Darrien (DJ). His family was the most important part of his life.
Pat was an avid sports fan and spent the last few years of his life travelling with his family to support his grandson AJ along his basketball journey and supporting DJ in soccer games. He was also a problem solver and took on many difficult projects around the house. He was a spiritual man who attended church regularly until he became ill. He will be missed by family, and friends, and all who know him.
A viewing is scheduled for Saturday, December 17, 2022, at 10:00 am, followed by a service at 11:00 am at Church of the Atonement, 10613 Georgia Avenue, Silver Spring, MD 20902. Patrick James White will be laid to final rest on Wednesday, December 21, 2022 at 11:30 am in The Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 13801 Georgia Avenue, Silver Spring, MD 20906.
