Mrs. Gilmour was my first grade teacher at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic School in Newport News, VA. I remember her smile, her small stature, and her beautiful accent. It was such a fun classroom! Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord.

  7. Pat Casano says:

Mrs. Gilmour was the Principal of St. Louis School for the entire time that my children were students there (1992-2004). She always had the best interests of the students at heart. She seemed to know all of them by name, even though there were more than 400 students there. Her devotion to the School and the students was evident.

My condolences to her family, friends and former colleagues.

  23. Nick Bona says:

Mrs. Gilmour was my principal at St. Louis from 1992-1999. She was an incredible woman. I still remember her announcing Mother Theresa’s death over the school loud speaker… as well as her ruining the results of the 1998 Winter Olympics Figure Skating competition (I got over it pretty quickly). I know I’m not the only person whose life she had an impact on. She’ll be missed.

  24. Whitney Wells says:

I’m saddened to hear about the passing Mrs. Gilmour. She was my principal during my years at St.Louis from first grade until eighth grade. I can honestly say that she was an amazing woman and loved her students and I can honestly say that I loved her too. As one of the few African American students in the school, she never looked down on me or judged me in any capacity. She was always there for my family, and was truly Christ like in her treatment of everyone. I can attest that she is resting and experiencing the love of Jesus in heaven. She will truly be missed.

  25. Sean Mason says:
