Today we gather together to celebrate the life of Mrs. Myra New, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend to many. Myra was born on November 27, 1950. in the Bronx to Mr. and Mrs. Melvin New. Myra was the fourth eldest of twelve children.
Myra branched off on her own and moved down south to Maryland, where she worked as a bookkeeper and recertification representative for a realtor company on multiple properties throughout the years. Myra received her high-school diploma from William Howard Taft high school. Whenever Myra entered a room, even if it was just her family and friends, faces would light up with joy and laughter would soon follow. She brought so much fun and amusement into the lives of others. She was certainly the life of any party and will surely be missed.
Myra quietly passed into eternal rest on May 03, 2023. Myra leaves to cherish fond memories: her cat, Rasta; her four sisters, Paulette, Janet, Terry and Robin; a brother, Peter; seven nieces, Gamel, Tanesha, Shavonne, Raquel, Alethea, Unequa and Krystina; six nephews Maurice, Travis, Parrish, Noah, Ian and Russell, four grandnephews, Justin, Maurice Jr., Nasir, and Kyrin; five grandnieces, Destiny, Aliyah, Paris, Briella, and Malia and a host of other relatives and dear friends.
The family will receive friends at the Cunningham Turch Funeral Home, 811 Cameron Street, Alexandria, VA 22314 on Friday, May 19, 2023 from 1:00 PM until the time of her Life Celebration at 3 PM.
