  2. James Boyd says:

Phil & Family, words cannot express my sadness when I saw the announcement in the Sunday Wash Post. Melissa has been a role model and friend to so many of us in the Intelligence Community for over 35 years. I still remember then LT Drisko helping this former 1125 Reserve Submarine Officer acclimate to standing weekend watch in the NAVOPINTCEN watch center for the first time. My last interaction with her was 5-6 years ago at DIA. She was the graduation speaker for one of the new employee orientation classes. As the class staff instructor, I had the honor of introducing her to the class, an easy task since her career was such an awesome model of achievement and professionalism. My sincerest condolences on your loss. She will be sorely missed. VR/Jim

We are so sorry for your loss. When this happens in our family we need more than human strength. God and his Son can provide what we need. Please review these scriptures : John 5:28-29 “Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice 29 and come out, those who did good things to a resurrection of life, and those who practiced vile things to a resurrection of judgment.”
Revelation 21:4 “And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.”

Phil and family – So sorry to hear about Melissa. Dita remembers Melissa fondly and vividly from their only meeting. I remember her well from our occasional lunch chats. Its funny how well you seemed matched, and yet seemed so different on many things (reminds me of Dita and I). No words are helpful in this sad time, but our thoughts are with you all.

We all loved Melissa, not because of her accomplishments which were very impressive, but because of how decent and caring she was towards everyone. While we will all miss her immensely, my heart is with Phil because one could never think of just Melissa – it was always Melissa and Phil, for they were always a wonderful example of a true union of love and commitment. Phil, our prayers are with you and the children.
