Maria Elena Reyes Lezama

Mom was born in Honduras on November, 24th of 1948. She was known to all of us by different names and titles.

Who was “Nena?”

Our family started with my grandparents, Ruben Reyes, and Enma Lezama, two exceptional people, a perfect couple, respected and admired by many.

The love that Nena’s parents had for their children was so perfect, that I believe that they had asked God for four boys and four girls, and their wishes were granted.

My mom was one of the oldest of the eight children. She was the third child. I don’t know who started to call her “Nena,” but all of her family, from my grandparents to all of her siblings, aunts, uncles and even cousins, called her “Nena.”

I heard that “Nena” was the most beautiful girl in the family. Long ago, she was elected the Queen of Puerto Cortes, our hometown in Honduras.

She was funny, sweet, and caring. Nena loved, and prayed for all her family, until the end.

On behalf of the five living siblings, we pray for Nena:

Nena we will forever LOVE you and keep you in our HEARTS.

We are thankful that you are now united with both parents Ruben Reyes, and Enma Lezama, and that you are now also reunited with both brothers Cesar Reyes, and Jose Reyes (tio Chaco).

Rest in peace, Nena.

Who was Mom?

Just like her parents, mom wanted a lot of kids, and God blessed her with three girls and three boys. God granted her exactly what she wanted.

To us, her children, Mom was our hero, and the most amazing woman. She was a fighter. Although she was a single mother, she always had faith in God.

For many years, while still in Honduras, we, her, children waited for our green cards. Meanwhile, mom was here in Virginia working two, and sometimes three jobs to support us and bring us here. Thanks to Mom’s faith in God and the family’s efforts our dream to come and join her became a reality.

Mom showed us discipline, how to be humble, and respectful, and more importantly she showed us the love of GOD. She enjoyed reading and singing songs from the bible to us.

Mom loved and Prayed for all her children until the end.

Now we pray for her:

MOM, we will forever LOVE you and keep you in our Hearts.

We are thankful that you are now reunited with your oldest daughter Leyla whom you lost too soon.

Rest in peace, MOM.

Who was Grandma?

Is a mystery to me how this happened, but Mom ended up with exactly twelve grandchildren.

It’s pretty amazing how big her heart was, for she accepted my stepdaughter Nikki as her granddaughter too, and so she was Blessed by God with six granddaughters, and six Grandsons.

And, she was the second mother to all twelve, from her oldest grandson Jafet, to the youngest Daniel.

Not only did she change lots and lots of diapers, she also bathed most of them and babysat.

More importantly, she was a great role model, by imposing discipline on all of them and by advising them.

Grandma was also very funny. When she went to a carnival , she would get on roller coasters and would not scream with panic, instead grandma would laugh. She laughed like a young girl.

Grandma loved and prayed for all her grandchildren, until the end.

Now we pray for her:

Grandma

We will forever love you and hold you in our Hearts., we will strive to make you be proud of us in your memory.

Rest in peace Grandma
