I just came across the sad news of MG Bannister’s death. I served with then-COL Bannister in Baghdad in 2007. His support and encouragement in those tough days were appreciated in ways I cannot adequately expressed. Your family will be in our prayers.

  3. William - Bill Price says:

To the family of MG Bannister, (Jeff). I am sure you have received many memories of your husband, father, brother and son. I was fortunate to be at Campbell University with him, before anyone (perhaps except himself) knew what a outstanding Officer and Warrior he would become. I remember him as not only serious about our craft (far more than myself), but also humorous and good natured. I pray your only memories are of love given and received.

  9. LTC Terry M. Crass USAR (RET) says:

I served on an ePRT under General Bannister’s command at FOB Loyalty in Eastern Baghdad. I have never seen a more professional and competent leader in any setting in my entire life. I came to my clinic this morning with General Bannister on my mind and so I searched for him on the internet. I was devastated to find out that he had passed. My heart goes out to his wife and daughter and entire family. Those of us who were blessed to have served under General Bannister are forever grateful for his leadership, guidance, patriotism and love for America. A true Patriot like no other that I have seen. God Speed Sir!!!

  10. Dutch DeGay says:

I don’t even have words. I’m just gutted. I served with him, for him. I’d wade through hell to steal the devil’s pitchfork if he asked me. A mentor, a coach, a teacher, a friend. He was the consummate professional and the definition of a true warrior. May he forever find rest in Valhalla. Those boys have no idea the fury that’s coming. RLTW

Jeff and my oldest brother, Ricky, were very close friends growing up in Rome, Ga. I remember his brothers and sisters and mine all played together back in the early to mid ’70’s. As we got older, before Jeff joined the Army, we would go fishing all night at the lock-in-dam in Rome. I have a lot of very good memories of Jeff and will miss him greatly. My condolences to his family.
