It is with profound sadness that the Klinger family shares the passing of Lawrence Allen Klinger (Label Avraham ben Lazer) on May 3rd, 2021. Larry was born on April 8th, 1937 to Elizabeth and Louis Klinger and was raised in Bronx, New York. Larry attended the Bronx High School of Science, and would later attend Clark University and Boston College where he earned his Law Degree. After serving in the US Army, he began his career with the US Department of Justice. He would serve the Justice Department for the next 37 years. He was profoundly fond of his duties which included settlement negotiations, lecturing and mentoring on judicial process and negotiation strategy. As part of his service to the department of Justice, he was duly admitted and qualified as an attorney and counselor of the US Supreme Court. He started a summer internship program whereby the brightest law students throughout the country would come to learn the legal process from the Torts Branch perspective. Upon his retirement he was recognized for “outstanding service to the Civil Division of the United States Justice Department and for the mentoring of Generations of Torts Branch Attorneys and Law Clerks”.

In 1960 he married the love of his life Ina Fierer. This union would last for the rest of his life and endure for over 61 years. He is survived by his wife Ina Klinger, brother Harold Klinger and Sister-in-Law Nancy Wellman, his daughter Elaine Rubin and son Paul Klinger, Son in Law Larry Rubin and Daughter in Law Kimberly Klinger.
His spirit is passed on through the lives of his grandchildren. Jacob Klinger who is a passionate advocate for social justice. Katie Klinger who loves to travel. Penina Rubin who is passionate about teaching. Steven Klinger who studies music. Yonatan Rubin who studies science and Anna Klinger who is a lover of nature and photography. His love of the arts, sciences, and social justice is witnessed through his countless generous contributions to Friends of the National Zoo, Bikkur Cholim which provided food and shelter to children in Israel. National Audubon Society and JNF (Jewish National Fund).

In lieu of flowers please consider sending donations to the Jewish Center for Justice which advocates for social justice, educational and leadership organization that empowers compassionate and just society, or Yad Yehuda which serves hundreds of individuals from the Greater Washington region by providing programs such as food pantry and emergency services.
Services will be held at King David cemetery on May 6th, 2021 at 11:00 am.
