Kathy Marie Palmer, 68, most recently of Fort Belvoir, Virginia, died on June 16, 2022. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend.

Kathy was born in Kingsport, Tennessee on July 8, 1953, and grew up in Chattanooga, Tennessee, where she was a graduate of Brainerd High School. She studied education, receiving degrees from both the University of Tennessee in Knoxville and the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia.

Kathy was a teacher for more than 20 years, working at various times with students of all ages, including a stint helping Army soldiers earn their GEDs. She lived all over the country as an Army spouse, making numerous friends wherever she lived. More than anything Kathy loved being a mother and a grandmother and will be greatly missed.

Kathy is preceded in death by her husband of over 40 years, Clinton Palmer. She is survived by her daughter Lindsay Palmer Barnette (and husband Jason); her grandchildren, Aimee and Nathan Barnette; and her niece Stephanie Dunn and nephews Chad Vaughan and Chris Palmer.

Funeral arrangements are being made for Arlington National Cemetery.

Memorial donations can be made to the American Diabetes Association (www.diabetes.org) or the Wounded Warrior Project (www.woundedwarriorproject.org).
