Joseph Z. Taylor, Jr., 74, of Florida, died April 12, 2019.
A Life Celebration service will be held 1pm, July 11, 2019 at Cunningham Turch Funeral Home, 811 Cameron St. Alex. VA, followed by interment at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA.
Joe was my resident assistant at HC. In other words he was my baby sitter. His roommate was Chris Mathews of hardball game. Still remember the political bull sessions. Rest In Peace Joe.
Joe was my boyfriend when he was at the Navy Supply School in Athens in the late 60s. I was a student at UGA. We miraculously hooked up again in 2012 or so with our friend Dick Kernan. The 2 if them had not seen each other since Athens days. They regaled me with their navy stories from Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms to 700 dozen eggs stored in a nuclear sub under Antartica. And what a time we had at Dicks house in San Rafael. RIP. And thanks for being such a gentleman with dinner at the Navy school when i was otherwise stuck with fraternity rednecks. Condolences to the three guys he loved so dearly. Linda
I was Joe’s freshman roommate at Holy Cross. He was someone I always considered a friend – most recently spending our. 50th reunion with his on campus at HC. His optimism always brought a smile to my face. We even shared 6 AM study sessions on days we had tests in the same course – he usually was the one making the coffee. My wife and I feel our world is lessened knowing he is no longer with us.I would love to hear from any of his family slo I can send stories and perhaps a photo or two.
All I can really say is I am devastated as I am certain is all of his family. Joe & I graduated Mount Vernon high school together in 1963. I can still remember so many fun wonderful times we had together with other friends …he was a great great character and a good friend. May God bless all of us who are grieving today for our fine friend.
