John F. Thompson, Jr.John F. Thompson, Jr., 89, of Fairfax, died on December 28, 2013 at his home. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Ruby B. Thompson; his sons, John L. Thompson Sara, and Steve F. Thompson. He is preceded in death by his twin sister, Frances Thompson Wall.Mr. Thompson was a faithful member of the Washington Street Methodist Church in Alexandria, until his health began to decline. He was also a Veteran of the United States Army.The family will receive friends from 7-9pm on Thursday, January, 2, 2014 at Cunningham Turch Funeral Home, 811 Cameron St. Alexandria, VA 22314. A Life Celebration service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, January 3, 2014 at 10am, followed by interment at Mount Comfort Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Washington Street United Methodist Church, 115 S. Washington Street, Alexandria, VA 22314.

    Frank was very special to us. We were in a camping club with his family. He was always ready go somewhere. He especially liked to drive the roads near the places that we were camping. After the long road trip, we would stop for a meal. He will be missed by all.
