James J. Barry age 78 On Monday, September 5, James J. Barry of Alexandria, VA passed away after a lengthy battle with cancer. He is survived by Cynthia, his beloved wife of 47 years; their devoted daughter, Jill; and grandchildren Noah and Josephine. Jim retired from the Federal Aviation Administration Office of Civil Aviation Security in 1994. A 1959 graduate of Manhattan College in Riverdale, New York and a longtime resident of Old Town Alexandria, Jim especially enjoyed the company of friends and family and also enjoyed following the activities of sports teams in New York and the Washington area. Inurnment at Arlington National Cemetery will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria, 4101 Eisenhower Avenue, Alexandria, VA 22304, or at alexandriaanimals.org.
