Hollis Virginia Shelton, age 90, passed away Saturday, November 7, 2009 at Culpeper Health and Rehabilitation Center.Mrs. Shelton was born October 7, 1919, in Arlington, Virginia and was the daughter of the late Christopher and Mae Havener Hurley. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Gordon Shelton, Sr.; three brothers and three sisters.Survivors include two sons, Ronald J. Shelton of Bumpass, Virginia and Gordon Shelton, Jr. of Unionville, Virginia; two daughters, Patricia Burdette and her husband, Doyle of Manassas, Virginia and Sandra Breese and her husband Thomas of King George, Virginia. Eight grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren also survive her.The family will receive friends from 10:30-11:30 AM Wednesday, November 11, 2009 at Cunningham Funeral Home in Alexandria, Virginia, where funeral services will begin immediately following the visitation at 11:30 AM. The interment will follow at Mt. Comfort Cemetery in Alexandria, Virginia.
I am so sorry she is gone, but she did live a long life. Guess Gordon is saying, “well, here she comes”! Even though she was ill, she did end up living the last few days/months at the farm, where she really always wanted to be. May God Bless.
