  6. Tracy E. says:

Ernie and I enjoyed a small break of ‘hot dogs’ during the Airmen’s Run at Lackland Air Force Base for a couple of years–it was our awesome break in the work week…that is, until we moved to a new facility and the hot dogs were no longer available. Would you believe that we talked about that for more than five years?!

Ernie connected with thousands, literally thousands of young Air Force Enlisted Recruits who prepared their “Hometown News Release” notices — this is something that had the impact of affecting their lives years in their future. As the Historian for Lackland, I would often times find Ernie’s photo in the base (Lackland AFB) newspaper — she was photoed countless times with dignitaries and other famous people visiting the base— and when I came across them, I always sent them to her and she always responded with fond, positive memories of the event…..

    Ernie, I miss you.
I pray you rest well of a life well lived.

    Tracy
    Historian, Lackland AFB
