Else Johnson

Else M. Johnson, 80, passed October 6, 2020 at the Capital Caring Adler Center, in Aldie Virginia.

Else Marie Johnson was born in November 1939, in Hochrode, Silasia, Germany.
At the age of 17, and a career degree in Tanning (leather works) she left the East, and started a new life in West Germany at her young age.

In 1966, she left Stuttgart, Germany to meet her husband Herbert C. Johnson. Soon after, with her daughter Astrid, naturalized as a citizen of the United States of America. In 1996, unfortunately her husband passed.

Else had a zest for life, and many interests.
She raised birds and had several aviaries of parakeets, canaries and zebra finches. The family traveled to different States to various bird showings as professional breeders.
Gardening and cooking was her other loves. Many neigbors and friends can say she was gracious in sharing.

In 1985, she recieved a carreer diploma in auto mechanics at the Arlington Career Center. She never worked as a teacher but was always there at evening classes to volunteer her time to help new adult students in fixing their cars. She was amazing.
She took up oil painting in her 50’s, and up to her last weeks of life still painted!

If there was anything that totally stood out in Else’s personality, most would say it was her hospitality and kindness towards others.
Late in her life, she associated with the Jehovahs Witness faith. She had great love for Gods word the Bible, and never missed the gatherings of worship.
Her faith brought her through the most difficult time in her last year of life with Pancreatic cancer. She passed Tuesday morning, October 6, 2020.
She is now in Jehovah’s God’s memory and will wait to be resurrected on a beautiful paradise earth when the time comes.
Else wanted no tears, no sadness, no fuss… but looked forward to seeing us all again as promised in Psalm 37:29…” the righteous will possess the earth, and they will live forever on it.”…

Else, there was truly no one else like her, and the neighborhood is not the same without her! We moved into the house across the street from her 19 years ago. She always had such great stories, a wonderful smile and a welcomed simple honesty.

    Love,
    Tripp and Jenn

  4. Horace, Martha and Sarah says:

Else entered our lives over 25 years ago when we became her neighbor. We shared an unfenced yard where our daughter and her granddaughter played, we tended and discussed our gardens, and we watched backyard wildlife. Sharing experiences over the years we moved from neighbors to friends, to adopted family. She was truly gracious, we loved her and we miss her.
