Elizabeth Anne Muller Hudson of Georgetown, SC, age 92 died Wednesday, June 22, 2022. She was born in Fort Douglas, Utah. A proud Army daughter, wife, and mother she was preceded in death by her parents, Major General Walter Joseph Muller, Sr, and Frances Elizabeth Rourke Muller, as well as her brother, Walter Joseph Muller, Jr. and her beloved husband, Colonel William Augustus Hudson, Sr. As an Army daughter, she attended elementary schools all over the United States. During World War II, when her father was serving in the European Theater of Operations, she and her brother lived with her mother in her hometown of Savannah, Georgia, where she attended Sacred Heart School and The Pape School. At the conclusion of the War, her family was re-united and posted to Munich, Germany. Upon completion of High School in Virginia, she attended and graduated from Marymount College, Tarrytown, New York. After graduation she attended the Sorbonne in Paris, France. During this time, she met her father’s aide, a decorated Korean War veteran, Lieutenant William Hudson. They were married in 1956 at the Presidio of San Francisco, and her life as an Army wife began. She supported her husband as they raised their family throughout his stateside assignments, overseas tours in Germany and The Netherlands, and combat deployments to Vietnam, and she extended her grace and strength to countless military families on their journeys through Army life. In 1980 she and her husband retired to DeBordieu Colony in Georgetown, South Carolina. Due to declining health, Mrs. Hudson most recently lived in Annandale, VA with her eldest son and daughter-in-law.
An Army mother, Mrs. Hudson is survived by her sons, Colonel William Augustus Hudson, Jr. USA (Retired), of Annandale, VA, and Colonel Walter Joseph Muller Hudson, USA (Retired), of Arlington, VA, as well as her daughter, Frances Elizabeth Hudson of Burgess, SC. She leaves two daughters-in-law, Gaye Havnaer Hudson of Annandale, VA and Laura Kastens Hudson of Arlington, VA. She is also survived by three grandchildren, William Augustus Hudson, III, Rachel Elizabeth Hudson and Anna Frances Hudson.
The family will receive guests at the Cunningham Turch Funeral Home, 811 Cameron Street, Alexandria, VA on Thursday, June 30 from 6 – 7pm. A loyal daughter of the Catholic Faith, she had a special devotion to the Blessed Mother. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Rita’s Catholic Church, Alexandria, VA on Friday July 1, at 10 am. She will be interred at a later date alongside her husband, at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Our Lady of Ransom Catholic Church, Georgetown, SC.
