Edward F. Quin

Ed nov18 1

Edward Francis Quin of Alexandria, VA, loving father of Elizabeth and Christopher, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, December 26, 2018 at the age of 65.
Edward was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on August 28, 1953 to Christopher and Marguerite (Gibbons) Quin. He grew up in Havertown, attended Monsignor Bonner Catholic High School in Drexel Hill, and graduated from Penn State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1980. Shortly after graduation, Ed moved to the Washington DC metropolitan area where he resided and worked as an accountant/controller in the building and construction industry for the rest of his life. He was employed by The Hylton Group for the last 18 years. Ed married Carol Duncan in 1993, and they raised their two children, Elizabeth and Christopher in Alexandria, VA. His greatest pride was his children and greatest joy was spending time with them.
Ed was a loyal friend, dedicated employee, as well as a committed family man. He enjoyed music, the Jersey shore, and loved sailing and fishing. He was a skilled handyman and accomplished craftsman who could create masterpieces from the ordinary – from meticulously restoring Queen Anne furniture to helping his kids craft a block of wood into their dream Pinewood derby car. The enjoyment Ed got from exercising his creative talents, and from generously and patiently sharing those skills with anyone needing a hand, was as palpable as it was infectious.
Ed was preceded in death by his father and mother. He is survived by his daughter Elizabeth, son Christopher, ex-wife Carol, brothers Christopher, Michael and Robert, sister Margie (Kane) and an aunt, Gertrude Verzella, as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.
A memorial celebration of his life will be held in the spring.

I knew Ed way back in Ocean City New Jersey. Very fun guy, got along with other people really well. We always wanted Ed to come along because he would fit in anywhere. Good guy. Even though we had gone different directions, I always kept up with where he was and what he was doing. Thus this note. Sorry for your loss.

  5. Phil McGee says:

Ed was an old friend. He was raised just around the corner from me in Havertown. We both attended Msgr. Bonner High, with Ed three years my junior. There were many good times together as active members of Stage Crew. We both navigated the 60s/70s together, along with many dear friends. Although I will miss him, I have come to believe that we will certainly see each other again, in good time.

    Peace and God’s blessings,

    Phil McGee

  6. Rev. Shelby Boldt, Hylton Memorial Chapel says:

I am so sorry for your loss. My prayers are with you all. God will help you navigate through this sudden loss and the days ahead. I didn’t see Ed on a regular bases but when I did, I always enjoyed our conversations. He will be missed.
