Cynthia C. Burhans died March 17, 2023 at The View, Alexandria, VA. Born October 12, 1930, Cynthia grew up in Alexandria and was a graduate of George Washington High School. She earned a bachelor of science in English literature from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a master’s degree in library science from the University of Michigan. Her career included positions at National Geographic, the Library of Congress, and the Department of Defense. Cynthia was a loving caregiver to her father and sister and touched many lives with her sunny demeanor. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. and Mrs. Nathaniel C. (Vaughtie) Burhans, her sister Barbara, her identical twin sister Priscilla B. Frampton, and her brother-in-law Elon Frampton. She is survived by her nephew, Richard Frampton and her niece, Gail Frampton. Visitation will be from 9:15 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 15 followed by the funeral service in the auditorium at The View (formerly Hermitage Northern Virginia, 5000 Fairbanks Ave. Alexandria).
