In Memoriam

Aubrey Dickson, 75, of Clinton, MD passed away peacefully, Friday, February 24,
2023 at MedStar Southern Maryland Hospital. Aubrey was born June 15, 1947 in
Norfolk, Virginia to Perdy and Lucille Dickson. He graduated from Booker T.
Washington High School and entered the US Army where he served his enlistment

honorably throughout the Vietnam War Era.

As a program director for Maryland Parks and Recreation, Aubrey began his career
in public service. His distinguished career allowed him to serve in numerous roles,
garnering him respect within the community. He served as a coach in various young

adult basketball leagues that produced championship victories.
He created senior support initiatives that overcame generational divides and
allowed people of all ages to enjoy themselves. His Annual Senior Fashion
Extravaganza and Senior Arts program honored elderly adults in a special way and
provided joy to the neighborhood. His programs highlighted pertinent problems
and offered solutions. First Lady Michelle Obama supported his Youth Need Fitness
Too program in order to help her efforts to combat youth obesity. Several schools

in the DMV region implemented these initiatives.

He established the Save The Family No Time for Crime Foundation in 2009. There,
he oversaw various initiatives to mentor young people who were at risk, lower

crime rates, and prevent family displacement.

He was an enthusiastic fan of the Boston Celtics, an amazing dancer (known for
commanding the dancefloor), and a connoisseur of smooth jazz and soul music.

He will also be remembered for his hilarious sense of humor, which made everyone

around him laugh and cry with joy.

He will be sorely missed by his son Aubrey Dickson Jr (Shontae), grandsons: Aubrey
III and André, granddaughters: De’Sia, Kimauri and Uriah, great grandchildren:

Veronica and Israel, extended family, and friends.
